A couple of weeks ago, inspired by Darren Rowse’s group writing project I ran a “How To” Week here at Instigator Blog. It was fun, but challenging, to focus on one style of post for the entire week and make sure I wasn’t cheating myself (or you!) into writing something that was less than a real “how to” in order to fit the theme.
And now I’m at it again. Not the cheating part, the writing part…
I’m declaring this Blog About 5 Things Week where each post will list 5 things. It could be any subject, and the 5 things won’t necessarily be a ranked list (i.e. top 5.)
Sample post ideas: “5 tips on…” or “5 ways to…” or “5 lessons about…”
“Things” is a fairly generic word, but apply it to something, write about 5 of ’em and you’ve got it!
Please join me in this little experiment!
Go ahead and write “5 things” posts all week and link back here to let me know!
I hope you’ll give it a try, and tell your friends too! Even if you just write one or two posts, give it a go! I don’t have any amazing prizes, but I’ll link to you like crazy and we’ll have a grand time doing it…
In the spirit of Blog About 5 Things Week, here’s 5 reasons you should write a “5 Things” post:
- It’s a challenging way to work on your writing.
- It’s a great way to get some inbound links to your blog and make some new friends.
- List-style posts are quite popular, so with a bit of social bookmarking, the community’s help and some luck, we can generate explosive traffic numbers.
- Your community will appreciate it; they’ll get your valuable thoughts, insight and advice in neat little “5 things” packages.
- It’s tons of fun!
