A few days ago, while perusing my blogroll, I found a link to Converstations. I visited, liked what I saw, and added the blog to my reading list. Shortly thereafter I posted a comment to one of the posts on the blog.
What happened after that was great…Mike Sansone, author of Converstations, took a look at IGotNewsForYou.com, liked what he saw and subscribed.
My participation on his blog drove him to check out my website, without me openly promoting it. I was commenting on being childlike as a manager without being childish…so we’re talking management techniques, running a business, etc. I wasn’t participating on his blog as a way of advertising, I was doing it to be part of the community of people that put themselves out there for others.
By doing so, I got a new customer, and that’s great.
Then, Mike wrote an amazing post about IGotNewsForYou. It includes a great screenshot of a page that he sent his friend.
Mike also sent me a page, which I think is pretty funny. A customer using my service for me. You can take a look at the page here.
All in all it was a great experience. I’m getting more and more involved with the online community of bloggers on topics of interest (marketing, entrepreneurship, humor, etc.) and in return that’s helping me grow my business. Plus, I’m meeting great people like Mike.
