We made the announcement yesterday on our blog – Year One Labs has completed its fourth investment in a new customer support startup founded by Dov Amihod and Mitchell Amihod. Yes, they’re brothers. And strangely enough this is our second investment in a brother team (previously we invested in Garry and Ken Seto, Please Stay Calm.)

There’s really no information to share at this point about what Dov and Mitch are up to; but there will lots coming from them soon.

One of the really cool things about this deal is that we met Dov and Mitch through the Google Hackathon we held (along with Google and RPM Montreal) in January. Prior to that we didn’t know either of them, but they came to the Hackathon, showed their talents (technically and as entrepreneurs) and the dialogue kicked off. It was good proof for us at Year One Labs that instigating events like hackathons has a direct impact on our ability to generate quality deal flow and find the right entrepreneurs. All of the Year One Labs partners are actively involved in the community; and we were active prior to Year One Labs too. But it’s very exciting to see opportunities like our deal with the Amihod brothers emerge out of those efforts.
